Fela Day | Celebrating Fela Kuti Music & Life

On October 13, at 8:00 p.m., a Fábrica Braço de Prata (Silver Arm Factory) will join Fela Day for the first time, a worldwide celebration honoring Fela Kuti, the most vibrant anti-power voice of African music.

Fela Day | Celebrating Fela Kuti Music & Life

The son of an influential Protestant pastor, founder of several student unions and teachers, and a mother activist of the anti-colonial and feminist movements, he was contaminated early on by the idea of insubordination.

The passage through the US crossed paths with the Black Power movement, the political message of Malcolm X and jazz. From there, he develops his most powerful weapon - AFROBEAT - a genre of music that he himself invents, mixing tribal rhythms, American jazz and funk elements, and West African highlife. Through his long songs, he denounced the brutalities committed by the military regime that controlled Nigeria in the 1970s and the lack of freedom in the country.

In this event your fight and your music will be honored in several ways: Concerts, Dj Set, Documentaries, Gastronomy (African Menu).

That's what they like, and that's how they think music should be, a way to make people happy, dance and jump late into the night.
